The PHL-5000 series of PDA’s from Opticon are a new addition to the growing number of Pocket PC based devices with built in bar code scanning capabilities in the market today. What makes them unique is the fact that they are not ruggedised and they are not prohibitively expensive.
Most scanning PDA’s available today are made by manufacturers aiming at the logistics market and they have been constructed and priced accordingly.
Opticon believe that there is a large gap in the market for a range of products that do not pretend to be any more robust than a consumer PDA but offer the additional efficiencies that bar code scanning can bring.
